Start of the League Season

Tomorrow see's the start of the new league season with LLangollen entertaining Welshpool at home in Glyn Ceiriog.

There has been quite a bit of activity at Tower Field over the summer with Coach Mark Price looking to strengthen his squad. Additions have been the return of speedster Josh Wilson who returns from spells at Chester and Ruthin, Wayne Jones hooker from Rhos, Charlie Turner and Morgan Roberts both products of the Glyn Ceiriog junior system, Charlie had been playing for Ruthin Youth and Morgan living in Denmark for 2 years. Both are looking to follow in the footsteps of Ciron Davies in cementing a first team place. Also coming in is robust second row Adam Thomas returning to the club after a couple of years away un-able to play due to work commitments and finally rugby league convert Owain Brown who has decided to have another pop at union following his retirement from the North Wales Crusaders.

Coach Mark Price explained “the new league format see us in the harder side of the east west split and we don’t mind that as it will give us good competitive rugby which will only help us improve. We have had some new players come in and some old faces returning and it is clear the fight for starting places has gotten a lot tougher and the lads have stepped up with big numbers at training every week. We know we have plenty of fire power and we just need to play to our strengths and we should certainly be able to make our Mark on the league”.
